Forest School is a child-centred educational approach that is increasingly being recognised as an innovative way to get children active and learning. It allows them to learn, explore and play in a safe and natural setting, and offers opportunities for holistic growth through play exploration and supportive risk taking. This hands-on experience helps to develop team working skills, improve confidence and enable self-led learning for some of the important life lessons that cannot be taught within the classroom. As our green spaces are continually diminishing it is our intention to enhance whatever space you have, to maximise its potential for outdoor education.
We are also hoping to bring these safe outdoor spaces to other areas where we feel children can engage with nature with their peers – for example in a care home setting. The idea of grandparents being able to be outdoors in a safe space outdoors with their grandchildren learning and playing as they would have once done themselves as children is something that we are passionate about providing. Expanding this further to more public spaces, we are designing products that can keep children occupied and not reaching for a mobile phone or tablet.
